In celebration with Artown, the Reno Phil Orchestra and Chorus will perform patriotic and classical favorites at Wingfield Park on Thursday, July 4, in Downtown Reno. Conducted by Laura Jackson, the family friendly performance will begin at 7:30 PM and will end with a fantastic firework finale. The park opens at 5:00 PM, come early with a picnic dinner and save your spot on the lawn. This patriotic event is free to the community.
The Reno Phil collaborates with the Dolora Zajick's Institute for Dramatic Voices for an evening of orchestral and operatic wonder. Hear excerpts of the world’s most famous operas performed by students and alumni of the Institute accompanied by the magnificent Reno Phil. This is a free Artown event.
The Reno Phil Orchestra will perform the world famous production of Beethoven Lives Upstairs, featuring a lively exchange of letters between young Christoph
and his uncle. Their subject is the "madman" who has moved into the upstairs apartment of Christoph's Vienna home. Through a touching correspondence dramatically underscored with the composer's most beautiful exerpts, Christoph comes to understand the genius of Beethoven, the beauty of his music, and the torment of his deafness.
