Capathia Jenkins

Capathia Jenkins is a talented actress and powerhouse vocalist, equally passionate about both acting and music. She approaches each song and script as an artist, seeking hidden meaning in the melody or text to take her audience on a journey.
A Brooklyn native, Capathia most recently starred as ‘Medda’ in the Broadway production of Newsies. She made her Broadway debut in The Civil War as Harriet Jackson and later appeared in the 2000 Off-Broadway revival of Godspell, where her rendition of ‘Turn Back, O Man’ was recorded. Capathia also starred in The Look of Love, created roles in Caroline, or Change and Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, and earned acclaim for her performance of ‘Stop the Show’.
In 2007, she starred in Misunderstanding Mammy-The Hattie McDaniel Story, earning a Drama Desk nomination. She also appeared in Love, Loss, and What I Wore.
As a concert artist, Capathia has performed with orchestras worldwide, including the Cleveland Orchestra, Houston Symphony, and Pittsburgh Symphony. She was a soloist at the Festival Cesky Krumlov and performed in Broadway Ambassadors to Cuba in 2011. Capathia has also appeared with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops, and the Cincinnati Pops.
Her TV credits include 30 Rock, Law & Order SVU, The Sopranos, and Law & Order, and she appeared in the 2012 film Musical Chairs. She can also be heard on the soundtracks of Nine, Chicago, and Legally Blonde 2.
