The Legacy of music
Planned Giving & Legacy
Do you remember the first time you heard a live symphony, or the first notes you played on an instrument? Think of how those special moments and other music related memories affected your life. Now you have the chance to do the same for others.
Music in this community lives on through your legacy. Your support through a planned gift ensures the Reno Phil will continue to inspire future generations of music lovers and performers.
Many Reno Phil supporters have included us in their will or with another type of legacy gift as a way to pass along the joy and impact that music brought to their lives. Their planning strengthens the future of the Reno Phil.
Planned gifts of all sizes make it possible for us to build financial strength and maintain our position for excellence and community service for generations to come.
When we’re notified, we’ll recognize your commitment by inviting you to join our Dr. Gilbert and Elizabeth Lenz Legacy Society. We recognize the Dr. Gilbert and Elizabeth Lenz Legacy Society members in our publications and with invitations to special events.
Ways to Give
There are multiple ways you can help support the Reno Phil.
LEGACY

Your charitable bequest is the most important type of gift for building the Reno Phil’s future. When received, your bequest will be recorded as a gift to our endowment where it will strengthen the organization for future generations.
There are three types of bequests for you to consider: Specific, Residual or Contingent. Residual bequests are often made after making specific bequests to relatives, friends and charities. Whatever remains after specific bequests (the residuary) can be given in percentage to charity and others.

2) __________ shares of stock in ________________Company.”, or

Charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts provide a gift to Reno Phil, income for life, favorable tax treatments, and other benefits.
A charitable gift annuity is a simple contract between you and a charity. A portion of the income you receive for life is free of tax. Annuities work best for those 70 and older – the older you are when making this type of gift, the more income you receive.
Charitable remainder trusts are similar to annuities, and are also more complex. The Reno Phil can provide you information about each of these gifts and their options available.

Your legacy gift to the Reno Phil will help us provide fresh musical contexts that spark the imagination, stimulate the mind and enrich people’s lives in multi-faceted ways. The vast majority of legacy gifts are made by bequest through a will or trust.
Many types of assets, in addition to cash, can be used to make a legacy gift. We encourage you to work with your professional advisors and our staff to help you determine which type of legacy gift is best for you.
In addition, there are many types of legacy gifts you can easily make without incurring the services of your professional advisor. All you need to do is fill out your provider’s paperwork for the following gifts:

ENDOWMENT
Reno Philharmonic Endowment Trust
The Reno Philharmonic’s Endowment plays a vital role in providing the financial support and stability that further our mission to produce quality, inspirational orchestral performances, support exceptional educational and outreach programs, and provide leadership in the performing arts community.
With an eye toward long-term growth and stability, the Reno Philharmonic Endowment Trust was established in 1993 by Jack & Vicki Barneson, Reed & Eiko Bingham, Doloris Darden, Jack Fegely, John & Nancy Flanigan, Conrad Hilton, and Charles & Ann Mathewson. It is carefully managed by the trustees of an independent Endowment Trust who through prudent investments and strong oversight ensure the perpetuity of the Reno Phil’s legacy.
Earnings from the trust have provided support for additional concerts, guest artists, Young People’s Concerts, music appreciation courses, and other activities. The endowment has maintained consistency during periods of short-term economic volatility and financial support to help the organization grow. Investing in the arts not only enhances the quality of community life, but it also contributes to its economic well-being. By giving to the Reno Philharmonic Endowment Trust, you are providing the precious gift of symphonic music to both current generations and those who come after us.
Gifts to the endowment may be made through direct contributions, pledges, and planned giving options.
