BOARD MEMBER
Kevin Melcher was elected to the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents in 2010. He served on numerous committees and was chair of the Investment Committee; chair of the Truckee Meadows Community College and Great Basin College President Search Committees, and vice chair of the NSHE Community College Committee. He was also a member of the Academic, Research and Student Affairs Committee, Health Sciences System Committee, and the ad hoc Committee on Athletics. He was appointed by Governor Brian Sandoval to serve on the Nevada State Board of Education as the NSHE representative during 2013, 2014 & 2015. In September of 2019, Kevin was appointed by Governor Steve Sisolak to fill a vacated term through 2020 on the Nevada State Board of Education. Kevin was also selected to serve on the 2014 Subcommittee on Academics and Workforce Alignment, part of the Nevada Legislature’s Interim Study Concerning the Governance Structure of and Funding Methods for Community Colleges.
Kevin Melcher is a native Nevadan and graduated from Reno High School in 1974. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1979 and earned his Masters degree in 1981. He served as a student senator for the colleges of arts and science and education for four years and was ASUN senate president in 1978-1979.
