WHAT IS RPA KIDS?/ ¿QUÉ ES RPA KIDS?

RPA Kids is an afterschool music instruction program presented by the Reno Philharmonic Association. This Suzuki-based method introduces students to the principles and basics of string instruments, primarily the violin. Students will also learn note reading and other basics of music theory. Classes are approximately 20 students per teacher.

RPA Kids es un programa extraescolar de instrucción musical presentado por la Asociación Filarmónica de Reno. Este método basado en Suzuki introduce a los estudiantes a los principios y los fundamentos de los instrumentos de cuerda, principalmente el violín. Los estudiantes también aprenderán la lectura de notas melódicas y rítmicas. Las clases están limitadas a 20 estudiantes por maestro.

COST / COSTO

RPA Kids is free of charge. All materials and instruments will be provided by the Reno Phil. Returning students will be issued a Reno Phil violin if they do not have one at home for RPAK use.

ELIGIBILITY / QUIEN ES ACEPTABLE

Students in 2nd-5th grades who attend Bernice Mathews, Lincoln Park, and Stead Elementary Schools are eligible for participation. Space is limited. If open spots remain, students from other WCSD schools might be able to participate.

Los estudiantes en los grados 2-5 que asisten a las escuelas primarias de Bernice Mathews, Lincoln Park, y Stead son aceptables a participar. El cupo es limitado. Si quedan lugares abiertos, los estudiantes de otras escuelas de WCSD podrán participar.

ATTENDANCE POLICY / POLITICA DE ASISTENCIA

Students must attend every class and stay for the full class time. If a student attends school that day they are expected to attend RPAK. Absences must be prearranged with the teacher. Students with multiple absences may be removed from RPA Kids, and their spots may be given to students on the waiting list.

Los estudiantes deben asistir a la clase regularmente y permanecer durante todo el tiempo de clase. Las ausencias deben ser previamente arregladas con el maestro.

BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS / EXPECTATIVAS DE COMPORTAMIENTO

Students are expected to follow all school rules, listen to directions from school employees and RPA Kids staff, and treat instruments and all other class equipment with respect.

Se espera que los estudiantes sigan todas las reglas de la escuela, que escuchen las instrucciones de los empleados de la escuela y del personal de RPA Kids, y que traten los instrumentos y todos los otros equipos de clase con respeto.

ClassDojo

ClassDojo is the primary form of communication between teachers and parents. Parents will receive information on how to sign up for ClassDojo upon acceptance into the program. Through ClassDojo, teachers will communicate students’ attendance, behavior, progress, and more. Parents can also message teachers via ClassDojo.

ClassDojo es la forma de comunicación principal entre los profesores y los padres. Si los estudiantes son aceptados en el programa, las instrucciones de cómo los padres pueden entrar a ClassDojo serán enviadas a casa. Los maestros comunicarán la asistencia, el comportamiento y las fotos de su progreso a través de ClassDojo. Los padres también pueden enviar mensajes al maestro por medio de ClassDojo.

CLASS TIMES / CLASES

RPAK classes will be on either Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays after school. RPAK follows the Washoe County School District Calendar. Recitals will be presented at the end of each quarter.

Stead: 3:30-5:05pm

Bernice Mathews: 3:55-5:30pm

Lincoln Park: 4:00-5:35pm

Las RPAK clases serán los marter, los jueves, y los miercoles. RPA Kids sigue el calendario de WCSD. Presentaremos un recitalcada semestre.
