Ryan Canaday

EMCEE

Ryan Canaday was originally born in Riverside, California, but he still very much considers himself a Nevadan. He moved to Henderson at age 7 and spent the rest of his childhood there. He graduated from Green Valley High School with high honors, before continuing his education at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Since moving to Reno in 2010, Ryan has truly planted his roots here. After earning his bachelor's degree in journalism in May of 2014, Ryan quickly landed a part-time job at 2 News.

Since then, Ryan has continually moved up the ranks. He's served the role as full-time weekend video journalist, a weekday general assignment reporter, the weekend anchor/reporter and now anchors the evening newscasts Monday-Friday. Ryan also produces the "Your 2 Cents" segment nightly at 4:25 and 6:55.

Becoming an anchor for KTVN has helped fulfill a longtime dream of his. Since he was a young boy, Ryan knew he wanted to be on the news. Now that he has earned his opportunity to show people the work he can do, he only intends to move forward in his career.

Ryan married his college sweetheart in 2018 and the two of them welcomed their first baby boy into the world in 2020. Ryan is not only only a husband and father, but he is the oldest of four siblings.

He enjoys spending his quality time with friends and family and loves being outdoors at Lake Tahoe. His greatest role models are his parents and grandparents.
