Steve Reade practiced law for 35 years with the law firm of Arnold & Porter in Washington, DC, before retiring and relocating to Reno with his wife, Jackie Simmons, in the summer of 2019. A senior partner in the firm, Steve was a litigator and trial lawyer with experience in a wide variety of commercial litigation.

Steve’s love of classical music goes back to his childhood, when his mother tuned in every week to “Saturday at the Met” and broadcast opera throughout the house on the crackly intercom. A prized teenage purchase was a boxed set of the 1952 recordings of Toscanini conducting the NBC Orchestra in all nine of Beethoven’s symphonies. He is delighted to be invited to join the Reno Phil Board and to further its important mission of keeping classical music alive and well.

Since arriving in Reno, Steve has also joined the Board of Directors of Rebuilding Together Northern Nevada, Inc, a non-profit devoted to repairing and rehabilitating homes for low-income homeowners.
