RENO PHIL RECEIVES $93,000 FROM JEFF JACOBS, OWNER OF J RESORT

Reno, Nev. (February 16, 2024) — The Reno Philharmonic is pleased to announce that it has received a $93,000 gift from Jeff Jacobs, owner of the J Resort. The gift will go towards supporting the Reno Phil’s summer programming and supporting the Reno Phil’s mission to create memorable musical moments for all in the community.

“We are overjoyed with the support that Jeff Jacobs and J Resort has shown,” said Aaron Doty, President & CEO of the Reno Phil. “So many people in the community cherish our summer programming and with gifts like these, we can continue to expand our offerings.”

The Reno Phil is a non-profit organization that has been serving the community since 1969. It is dedicated to bringing live orchestral music to audiences of all ages and backgrounds, as well as promoting music education and appreciation. It relies on gifts of all sizes to continue this mission to continue to spread the joys and powers of music in Northern Nevada and beyond.

“The J Resort's relationship with the Reno Phil has been characterized by generosity and a grand vision for the Reno Phil's summer programming,” said Laura Jackson, Conductor and Music Director at the Reno Phil. “From our initial interactions with Jeff Jacobs and his team at the J Resort, they’ve been incredibly generous, from allowing the Phil to use their venue at no cost to donating rooms for our traveling artists - saving the organization thousands of dollars in expenses. With their generosity and support, we have been able to continue our annual Pops fundraiser and expand our summer offerings with an additional concert at the Glow Plaza featuring the music of Tina Turner with live orchestra. We are so grateful for their commitment to the Reno Phil and to making the arts a central part of downtown Reno.”

“Creating a vibrant downtown is impossible without a strong arts community and the Reno Phil is an essential part of that; we are very proud to support their vision through this donation and with continued partnership in the future,” said Jeff Jacobs, CEO of Jacobs Entertainment. “Music is a central part of what we’re building with the J Resort, the Glow Plaza and Reno’s Neon Line and we look forward to working with the Reno Phil to bring great music of all kinds to Reno this summer and into the future.”

The Reno Phil offers several outdoor concerts held throughout the summer months in Reno, Nevada. The concerts typically take place throughout the Northern Nevada region, in venues such as Greater Nevada Field and the Glow Plaza. Over the years the pops concerts have featured a variety of popular music genres, including R&B, rock, and country.
