“We are proud to be able to showcase two international stars to the Reno community,” said Aaron Doty, President & CEO of the Reno Phil. “Spanish Nights is going to be a great avenue for our audiences to experience classical music from Spanish composers that we don't get the opportunity to hear as often in the concert hall.”

Currently the currently Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of Opera Naples and Artistic Director of Spain’s Arantzazu Festival, Ramón Tebar has conducted all across the globe. In the 2023/2024 season he will perform with the San Francisco Opera, Hamburg State Opera, Cincinnati Symphony and the Aarhaus Symphony in Denmark to name a few.

“The artistry of both Ramon and Rafael will simply take your breath away,” said Laura Jackson, Music Director, and Conductor of the Reno Phil. “I am confident that the vibrant authenticity of each piece intertwined with the profound emotion of the music will sweep you off your feet.”

The featured soloist of the evening, Rafael Aguirre, has performed in over 40 countries and several noteworthy organizations and currently resides in Madrid, Spain. At the age of 16 he made his orchestral debut with the Málaga Youth Orchestra on a tour in Spain and Morocco. He received a scholarship from the Junta de Andalucía and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Bonn to study in Germany with Professor Joaquín Clerch at the Hochschule Robert Schumann in Düsseldorf, where he graduated with honors. Aguirre has performed with the likes of the Prague Philharmonia, Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo, Symphony of the Americas or Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana and several others during his career.
