ANNUAL POPS FUNDRAISER “NASHVILLE TO NEON” TO MOVE TO THE LIVESTOCK EVENT CENTER

Reno, Nev. (May 29, 2024) — The Reno Phil will relocate it’s annual fundraiser Pops on the River from J Resort’s Glow Plaza to the Reno Livestock Event Center Indoor Arena to meet increased demand while still ensuring a positive patron and concert experience. The 29-year-old fundraiser has been a mainstay summer event in the community and will take place as scheduled on July 13, 2024.

“We are so grateful for our collaboration with the Glow Plaza and J Resort. As a result of recent enhancements to the Glow Plaza, the space required for a table-seated event for our guests is no longer available. We strive to provide an excellent patron experience and we are excited to present Pops on the River – at the Rodeo, especially with this year’s country-western themed event!” said Aaron Doty, Reno Phil President/CEO.

J Resort has been a supporter of the Reno Phil since they joined the community and with its expanded infrastructure J Resort will host The Music of Tina Turner at the Glow Plaza on August 3.

This fundraiser began in the early 1990s by the Reno Philharmonic Guild (no longer in existence) and has become the most popular summer event for the organization. Started in the backyard of a volunteer, the event grew and moved to Wingfield Park in 1994 where it remained for over two decades. The event is the largest annual fundraiser of the Reno Phil and features a costume contest and symphonic concert featuring the Reno Phil Orchestra, Music Director Laura Jackson, and guest vocalists.

“This event would not be successful without the commitment of our patrons, and we hope they’ll continue this journey with us as we navigate the evolution of this beloved event,” said Evelyn Klatt, Chief Development & Marketing Officer.  “Pops is such a fun event attracting between 1700-2000 patrons each year and we are outgrowing the spaces available to us.

The Reno Phil is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has been serving the community since 1969. The proceeds of this event fund not only its captivating orchestral performances but also its extensive education programs, which aim to enrich communities with the beauty and passion of symphonic music.
