The Reno Phil Presents: Elgar Cello Concerto
RENO, Nev (Jan 07 2026) – The Reno Phil continues its Classix season with Elgar Cello Concerto, featuring guest conductor Nicholas Hersh and internationally recognized cellist Zlatomir Fung, a Davidson Fellow and the youngest musician to win First Prize in the Cello Division of the International Tchaikovsky Competition.
The program includes works by Grażyna Bacewicz, Edward Elgar, and Ludwig van Beethoven.

Guest Conductor Nicholas Hersh currently conducts across the United States with recent appearances including the Utah, Colorado, Baltimore, New Jersey, and Rochester symphonies. He previously served as Associate Conductor of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, where he led subscription concerts, education programming, and the BSO Pulse series.
Cellist Zlatomir Fung performs worldwide and continues to gain recognition for his work as a soloist and chamber musician. He is a recipient of the Davidson Fellow award, and his engagements include performances with major orchestras throughout North America and abroad.
