Reno Phil & Reno Phil Musicians Ratify New Collective Bargaining Agreement

RENO, NV (8/28/26) – The Reno Philharmonic Association and the Reno Philharmonic musicians have reached a new 4- year Collective Bargaining Agreement, following ratification by the musicians this morning. The agreement, which takes effect retroactively to July 1, 2026 establishes the terms and conditions for the orchestra's musicians through June 30, 2030.

“This agreement represents an important step forward for the musicians of the Reno Phil,” said Jon Bhatia, Reno Phil Second Trumpet and Chairperson of the Players’ Committee. “We made meaningful improvements to working conditions and addressed several issues our musicians identified as most important, while also making progress toward a more competitive environment for attracting and retaining musicians in our region.”

Highlights of the new agreement include updates to the audition process and working conditions to align with industry standards, an increase in the overall orchestra complement by two contract positions, and increases in per-service compensation to be more competitive with other West Coast symphonies.

The agreement comes as the Reno Phil continues to build momentum as Northern Nevada’s leading professional orchestra, presenting a full season of classical and popular programming alongside education, outreach, and community engagement initiatives that reach thousands of people throughout the region each year.
