RENO PHIL CELEBRATES LAURA’S APPOINTMENT AS MUSIC DIRECTOR OF THE MADISON SYMPHONY, WHILE CONTINUING HER TRANSFORMATIVE LEADERSHIP IN RENO

RENO, NV (7/16/26) – The Reno Phil congratulates Music Director and Conductor, Laura Jackson, following the announcement that she has signed an initial five-year contract as Music Director of the Madison Symphony beginning in 2027 - 2028, in addition to her role as Music Director with the Reno Phil. This is a testament to Jackson’s artistic leadership, extraordinary talent, and ability to build community.

“We are excited to welcome Laura Jackson as the Madison Symphony Orchestra’s next music director,” Madison Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Robert Reed said. “She is among the most dynamic conductors of her generation, and we look forward to her leadership, her curation of compelling musical experiences, and her commitment to expanding MSO’s mission. She is the ideal person to lead the MSO forward as we begin the next 100 years of the Madison Symphony Orchestra, and I look forward to developing a strong partnership with her.”

In addition to leading the MSO, Jackson will continue as Music Director of the Reno Philharmonic. Having known the Madison Symphony firsthand as a bassist, I know the musicians and Madison community will love her as we do.”

Jackson’s appointment with the Madison Symphony has been structured to allow her to continue her leadership with the Reno Phil, where she will remain deeply engaged in artistic planning, conducting, and community initiatives.

Laura Jackson is known for her powerful commissioning work, and the Reno Phil anticipates many opportunities to work collaboratively with the Madison Symphony to elevate new music.

Laura Jackson’s contract with the Reno Phil was extended in 2023 and continues through the 2028-29 season. Jackson’s growing national and international profile reflects the artistic excellence and innovation she has championed during her tenure with the Reno Phil. Under her leadership, the orchestra has expanded its commitment to bold programming, new music, and meaningful connections with audiences throughout Nevada. The Reno Phil looks forward to many more seasons of artistic collaboration with Laura Jackson.
