Reno, Nev. (May 29, 2024) — The Reno Phil will relocate it’s annual fundraiser Pops on the River from J Resort’s Glow Plaza to the Reno Livestock Event Center Indoor Arena to meet increased demand while still ensuring a positive patron and concert experience. The 29-year-old fundraiser has been a mainstay summer event in the community and will take place as scheduled on July 13, 2024.
The Reno Philharmonic will highlight the works of famed American composer George Gershwin March 23 and 24 at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. Reno Phil musician, Jordan Pyle, will be the featured musician of the weekend performing renowned composer Michael Daugherty’s piece, Spaghetti Western.
The Reno Philharmonic is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Laura Jackson to continue to lead the orchestra through the 2028 – 2029 season. Jackson has spent the last 15 years as the Music Director and Conductor of the Reno Phil and will continue to champion the Reno Phil’s efforts to offer innovative musical experiences.
The Reno Philharmonic is pleased to announce that it has received a $93,000 gift from Jeff Jacobs, owner of the J Resort. The gift will go towards supporting the Reno Phil’s summer programming and supporting the Reno Phil’s mission to create memorable musical moments for all in the community.
On January 27 and 28, the Reno Phil will bring the sounds of Spain to Reno with Spanish Nights. Spanish-born conductor Ramón Tebar will take the podium to conduct the orchestra for the evening. Also on the program is guest artist Rafael Aguirre, a sought-after guitarist who has won several prestigious awards for his instrument.
After an extensive search process led by members of the Reno Phil Board with the assistance of Aspen Leadership Group, Aaron Doty has been selected as the next President & CEO of the Reno Phil.
December 8 - 10, the Reno Phil will perform its annual holiday concert, Spirit of the Season. Along with the Reno Phil Orchestra and Chorus, several acts will perform live on stage.
On November 11 and 12 the Reno Phil opens another chapter on its 55th season with Nakamatsu Plays Brahms. The Reno Phil Orchestra will be joined by world renowned pianist, Jon Nakamatsu as he makes his return to the Reno community.
On October 14 and 15, the Reno Phil will launch its 55th season of its Classix season. The highlight of the program will be Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, a piece of music that many will recognize due to its beloved opening measure.
The Reno Phil is excited to announce performing arts consultant, David Hyslop, as its interim President and CEO.
In December of 2021, the Reno Phil Board of Directors announced the beginning of a national search to find the next President & CEO of the organization.
This March, the Reno Phil will welcome back 20-year-old soloist Ray Ushikubo on both piano and violin for the upcoming Classix concert, Young Virtuoso: Conquering Piano & Violin.
